Dean Calvo was appointed Vice President for Finance and Administration/Treasurer, beginning February 1, 2014.
Dean has worked at CGU since 2009, serving most recently as Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration and Associate Treasurer. In this capacity, Dean has been responsible for financial operations, including accounting, budget, investment management, student accounts, treasury operations, sponsored research post-award administration, and student housing.
Prior to joining CGU, Dean served as Executive Director of Cal State L.A. University Auxiliary Services, Inc., a not-for-profit auxiliary corporation serving the university. In that capacity, he provided executive leadership to an organization of 650 employees and diverse operations. He oversaw an annual budget of $60 million, including $32 million of research enterprise revenue, and he managed $7 million held in trust for the university. Before moving to Cal State L.A., Dean served in progressive positions over a 17-year period at The University Corporation at Cal State Northridge, culminating in the role of Associate Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer.
Dean serves on the Board of Directors of the Western Association of College & University Business Officers (WACUBO). He holds an MBA from Loyola Marymount University and a BA in Music from CSU Sacramento.

Dean is at work now making important corrections to the university’s budget model, launching a zero-based budgeting analysis that will ensure smart and transparent allocations of university resources, expanding the financial materials that support Trustee decision making, and supporting our upcoming academic planning. Dean brings a fresh perspective, detailed understanding, and team orientation not only to his office, but to the entire campus.
