Increasingly, public and private organizations around the world are using geographic data mapping, location-based services, and related technologies in innovative ways that promise to transform what they do and how they do it. This innovative use of geographic information systems (GIS) poses challenges far beyond those associated with fundamental geographic activities such as visual and spatial analysis. Claremont Graduate University’s Center for Information Systems and Technology (CISAT) conducts research and graduate education at the forefront of this innovative field, utilizing our close proximity to leaders in the industry to fuel practical student engagement with GIS software, implementation, and analysis.
