A Course in Effective Strategies for Academic Writing

The Writing Center presents a semester-long course that guides you through the academic writing process.

Wednesdays 9:30 - 11:50 am
Venue: TBA

The Graduate Writing Course prepares students for success in PhD level courses. GWC leads students in a research paper or project integrating critical skills for research, information management, writing, and presenting.

The course reviews foundational writing structures and focuses on developing ideas, outlines, and arguments; reading and note-taking strategies to analyze and synthesize information; managing and integrating sources; creating annotated bibliographies; documentation styles, drafting, and revising; and presentation skills.

Students will develop these skills by working on a research paper, literature review, or extended case analysis depending on their discipline.

Students should register as they would for any other course through the Office of Admissions & Records, 160 E 10th St, Claremont, CA 91711.
