Claremont Graduate University is seeking a research officer who will provide skilled and technical support in research design, modeling, assessment, analysis, forecasting and reporting functions. The Institutional Research Officer reports to the Director of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. This is a temporary, full time position to include cross training and coverage during a maternity leave. Because the position is temporary, paid through the university. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Design, collection, analysis, presentation, and publication of demographic and academic data about the university as well as the trends of higher education in general.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree required. Graduate degree in education, statistics, social or behavioral science or other related field is strongly preferred or any combination of education and experience meeting position requirements. Minimum five years substantial experience in institutional research and planning in higher education is desirable. Should possess a strong background in the design and conduct of inquiry in organizations, the ability to analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data, proficiency in statistical packages such as SAS, Stata or SPSS, experience and interest in policy and planning in higher education, and excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of PeopleSoft.

Claremont Graduate University is seeking a motivated, creative communications professional to work closely with the Director of Communications in the creation and implementation of a strategic, multi-faceted communications program designed to strengthen the university’s role and reputation as a leader in higher education.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Assistant Director has primary writing responsibilities for the Office of Communications and assists with Office of Advancement writing assignments as requested.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Principal writer and managing editor of the Flame magazine; supervises the writing production design, and maintenance of all associated Flame magazine web pages, and distribution of the Flame magazine in hard and digital formats.
- Assist the department director in the development of a strategic communications plan to support CGU’s mission, goals and objectives.

External Affairs Specialist – Sotheby’s Institute of Art JOB POSTING #683

The External Affairs Specialist will develop and execute external communications events for the Art Business program, including those related to recruitment, marketing, alumni relations, career services, and strategic partnership development. The External Affairs Specialist works closely with the Assistant Director of Art Business program, with the Admissions, Marketing, and Recruitment Office of CGU and of the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, and with the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito School of Management administrative staff on all aspects of the Art Business program’s external affairs. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining alumni relations and outreach, and forging strategic professional partnerships with LA-area art businesses and institutions in order to facilitate opportunities for both the program and its graduates. The External Affairs Specialist also assists in coordinating off-campus travel and field study.
1. External Communications: Assist the Director and Assistant Director in developing and implementing a strategic communications plan for all external communications, including recruitment, marketing, and alumni relations. Assist in the planning and participation of all on- and off-campus, program-related, prospect- or public-facing events. Develop relationships with professional networks and organizations that will generate student prospects or career opportunities for graduates and alumni.
2. Recruiting and Marketing: In conjunction with the Global Marketing efforts of the Sotheby’s Institute of Art and Claremont Graduate University, promote the Art Business program externally. Generate ideas based upon currents in art business and the global art market in order to develop and refine descriptive and promotional language for the Art Business program. Execute marketing strategies for recruiting new students. Assess effectiveness of current and past marketing strategies. Help the Assistant Director maintain database of contacts and communication actions and execute all recruiting and marketing plans.
3. Alumni Relations: In coordination with the Alumni and Marketing teams of the Sotheby’s Institute of Art and the offices of alumni relations of Claremont Graduate University and the Drucker School, build and maintain a west-coast alumni network. Develop and refine alumni specific communications strategies. Plan and execute alumni events in coordination with marketing and recruitment goals. Facilitate alumni involvement in events to promote the Sotheby’s Institute of Art/Claremont Graduate University partnership.
4. Study Trips: With the Director and Assistant Director, help plan, organize, execute, and supervise all off-site local (greater LA-area), national, and international study trips (for example, to Art Basel Miami Beach or Art HK).
5. The Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and projects that strategically engage alumni and provide tangible benefits to alumni and current students.
The Director of Alumni Engagement is charged with securing commitments from alumni to provide professional expertise and volunteer service; collaborating with colleagues in the administrative offices (including, but not limited to Admissions, Development, Communications, Student Affairs, and Career Services) and the schools to create and maintain pathways for alumni engagement that advance both the needs of alumni and the goals of the University.
The Director of Alumni Engagement reports to the Vice President of Advancement and is a senior member of the Advancement team.
Alumni Engagement:
- Responsible for developing a specific plan with measurable methods to maximize alumni engagement at CGU.
- Develop a strategic plan for engaging alumni through an online alumni community, the use of digital media, CGU website, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.
- Working collaboratively with the Director of Advancement Operations, organize, manage and execute all University alumni events.
- Educate graduating students about alumni benefits and engage them in programs.
- Coordinate club cultivation, including regional and industry alumni events.

Marketing/Communications:

The School of Global Health at Claremont Graduate University is conducting a new research study entitled Healthy Habits. This study will test the effectiveness of a family-based intervention to help teenagers reduce their consumption of high sugar snacks, high fat snacks, and sweetened beverages.
The project is currently accepting application for Dietary Interviewers. These individuals will be responsible for completing 24 hour dietary recall assessments with adolescent study participants using a computer program. These assessments will typically take place in person and over the phone on weekends from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and weeknights from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The procedure itself involves asking teenagers about the foods they consumed in the past 24 hours and then using the Nutrition Data System for Research to enter and maintain nutrictional information. Prior experience with this system is not necessary. All training will be provided over a series of four to six weeks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful candidates will have a proven ability to take initiative and follow through. They should have basic computer proficiency and strong communications skills. Prior training or experience in either nutrition or phone-based interviews is preferred.
Positions are part-time, temporary, and 100% grant-funded. Positions will run until the current phase of the project is complete but there is a possibility for continuation with other studies.

Direct activities and work with diverse teams to develop strategies that support the growth and sustainability of the Getty Leadership Institute at Claremont Graduate University (GLI at CGU). Provide day to day oversight of program operations and work closely with the Executive Director to ensure that GLI endeavors are regarded as premiere executive leadership education programs for the museum field.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Program
· Work closely with the faculty of the Drucker School to develop and deliver a tailored executive education program for museum leaders.
o Ensure that learning objectives/outcomes, pedagogy, curriculum plans and learning methodology meet the needs of today’s museum leaders.
o Identify, recruit, and negotiate work agreements with faculty, facilitators and guest speakers.
o Design, interpret, translate and communicate evaluation findings to the curriculum team tostrengthen future activities.

· Provide vision and direction for the development of the campus computing resources and other electronic resources.
· Plan and configure the server platforms and core software environment to make the best possible use of university's investment in software and hardware; includes areas such as email, web servers, network and server operating systems, and configuration management.
· Apply best practices in higher education technology management.
· Manage multiple tasks, develop testing strategies and plans, manage and coordinate the work of department resources.
· Analyze and develop project requirements and specifications, timeline development, stakeholder coordination, ROI analysis, budgeting, and reporting.
· Formulate and define technical scope and objectives of projects.
· Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.
· Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
· Work with senior management and the faculty on the development and integration of academic and administrative technology.
· Maintain and configure virtual desktop and server infrastructure.
· Tune and optimize server configurations to provide high performance and reliability.
· Ensure network and data integrity, security, disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
· Maintain strong understanding of the interdependencies of the various systems for multiple businesses or functions.
· Identify opportunities for enhancement and risks in delivering IT services, including assessing opportunities for innovation and assessment of obstacles and technical hurdles.
· Assist in developing and reviewing RFP’s for acquiring new IT products and services.
· Establishes standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
· Prepare project status reports and keep management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues.
· Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
· Develop and maintain technical and project documentation.
· Develop quality assurance test plans; direct quality assurance testing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) or related experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
· Knowledge of and hands-on experience with the following: Windows 8, Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, Microsoft Windows clustering, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010, Office 365, SharePoint 2007/2010/2013, Microsoft SQL 2008/2012, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, FTP, VMware server virtualization/optimization, Barracuda load balancing and SPAM filtering, Cisco networking and VPN, Cisco ASA, Cisco Prime Infrastructure wireless, EMC SAN/Celerra NAS, intrusion detection and prevention solutions, McAfee Sidewinder firewall configurations, security logging and monitoring solutions, authentication (LDAP/SAML/CAS/Shibboleth), iOS and Android mobile technology, and a general knowledge of networking technologies and infrastructure.
· Knowledge of and experience using system security tools.
· 8+ total years’ experience in network administration, supervisory experience, project management, routing and switching.
· Must have a demonstrated technical knowledge of current computer and telecommunications hardware and software particularly relevant to higher education.
· Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
· Must possess the ability to effectively manage time, negotiate contracts, create and carry out strategic planning, work independently and work varied hours.
· Excellent knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.
· Strong organizational, interpersonal and team-building skills.
