Claremont Graduate University is located in charming Claremont, CA, and is sometimes called “the city of trees and Ph.D.s.” Our beautiful and safe campus is the perfect place to study hard, enjoy local culture, raise a family, or plot your next big career move. Claremont is a vital, balanced community that provides a wide range of programs and services for all age groups, preserves a full range of housing opportunities, and supports a variety of thriving commercial and industrial centers. The community's downtown area, known as “The Village,” offers a wide variety of restaurants, bakeries, unique boutiques, and galleries. You can stock up on fresh, organic produce every Sunday morning at the outdoor farmer's market, or meet with friends at a coffee shop. From concerts at the Folk Music Center to Classic Car Cruise Nights, the Claremont Village is home to an eclectic mix of people and activities. This year, the Village Expansion Project will add a five-screen Laemmle Theater movie complex, boutique hotel, specialty food market, live-work loft spaces, and additional stores and restaurants to the Village.

Claremont is known for its award-winning school district, which has over 6,300 students in its K-12 program and runs an extensive Adult School program. There are seven unique elementary schools, a school for the orthopedically handicapped, an intermediate school, a comprehensive high school, and a continuation school.

Claremont residence enjoy both a small-town atmosphere and easy access one of the nation's most metropolitan and diverse cities.  A mere 35 miles away from downtown Los Angeles, Claremont is within easy driving distance of Southern California’s beaches, mountains, and deserts, as well as a tremendous array of social, cultural, and sports activities.
