1-Domestic Students

Overview

  • CGU Insurance can be billed directly onto your tuition statement at the rates listed below.
  • Domestic students must request to be added to the plan by contacting admiss@cgu.edu with their request by the end of the add/drop period.
  • Students on a Medical Leave of Absence who are enrolled in the plan will continue to remain in the plan for that semester. If you will be on a leave of absence and wish not to be covered during that semester, you must opt out of the plan by following the instructions below.
  • To obtain 100% bill coverage, you must be treated at the Student Health Center. If they are unable to assist you they will refer you to see another in-network doctor. You must have the referral to obtain 90% coverage from a network provider. If you do not obtain a referral to see an outside doctor, you will be responsible for your deductible and coverage will be at 70% only. This does not apply in emergency situations or when Student Health is closed; these situations qualify for 90% coverage.
  • Download the insurance brochure and Current Plan at the bottom of this page.
Or visit the insurance company's website at http://www.renaissance-inc.com/Students/ to download their materials. The Quick Reference Guide in the back of the insurance brochure has many helpful quick tips for using the insurance. In addition, please feel free to visit our Frequently Asked Questions page for additional guidance.

Dependent Coverage

  • You can only insure dependents in the CGU plan if you are also insured through CGU.
  • Dependent rates are paid directly to the insurance company (as opposed to student insurance which is reflected on your CGU bill) at the rates listed below. Dependents may be added only up until the enrollment deadline listed in the brochure or on the dependent enrollment form.

Opting Out

  • You may opt out of CGU insurance until the end of CGU's add/drop period.
  • Remember, partial semester coverage is unavailable so please plan ahead for your insurance needs.

2-International Students

Overview

  • All CGU international students are required to have health insurance. Immigration policy requires that all international students be covered by an insurance policy. There are 2 ways to satisfy these institutional and governmental rules: a) Purchase CGU Health Insurance or 2) Purchase and provide proof of health insurance from an independent provider.
  • International students must always have coverage. If your personal insurance will expire mid-way through the semester, you should either extend the coverage or purchase CGU insurance at the start of the semester. Partial semester coverage is unavailable so please plan ahead.
  • CGU Insurance can be billed directly onto your tuition statement at the rates listed below.
