John Bachmann, senior partner at Edward Jones and former chairman of the US Chamber of Commerce, will visit Claremont Graduate University on Nov. 7 to discuss how he rose from part-time college intern to CEO of one of the country's largest investment firms.
His talk will take place from 3-4 p.m. in Albrecht Auditorium, 925 N. Dartmouth Ave. Admission is free, though seating is limited and RSVP is required. RSVP at http://alumnicommunity.cgu.edu/bachmann.
Bachmann began his career at Edward Jones as a part-time college intern in 1959. For the next two decades he worked his way up the ranks of the company, gaining experience in strategic planning, corporate finance and technology. By 1980, Bachmann succeeded Edward D. Jones, Jr. as managing partner (CEO) of Edward Jones.
Bachmann built upon Jones’ philosophy of serving the needs of individual investors, and during his tenure as managing partner, Edward Jones grew from 200 offices in 28 states to more than 9,000 offices throughout the United States, in addition to its affiliates in Canada and the United Kingdom. In December 2003, Bachmann stepped down as managing partner of Edward Jones to become a senior partner.
His talk will be followed by a reception from 4-4:30 pm.
