The creative economy is revitalising manufacturing, services, retailing and entertainment industries. It is changing where people want to live, work and learn – where they think, invent and produce.

The creative economy is based on a new way of thinking and doing. The primary inputs are our individual talent or skill.

John Howkins, Keynote Speaker

John Howkins is a leading figure in the global development of these ideas. His book, The Creative Economy, published in 2001 and revised in 2007, was the first account of the new economy.

John Howkins & Co have developed the Creative Triangle and the Creative Audit. These enable companies and policy-makers to benefit from the new opportunities.

As one of the first great thinkers to define the creative economy, and chairman of BOP Consulting, John Howkins has advised global corporations, international organizations, governments, and individuals. He has worked in over 30 countries including Australia, Canada, China, France, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Poland, Singapore, UK and USA.

His business career has been spent in TV, film, digital media and publishing. He was associated with HBO and Time Warner from 1982 to 1996 with responsibilities for TV and broadcast businesses in Europe.
