Juanita Dawson serves as a director of cybersecurity and compliance with Raytheon Technologies. She provides the vision and leadership for developing and supporting various initiatives that are critical to compliance in the areas of security, cyber intelligence, risk management, records, learning, disaster recovery and business continuity practices for Raytheon’s Digital Technologies (DT) organization.
As the main liaison with key internal and external partners, product teams, and support groups, she ensures that the DT organization’s practices and technologies comply with all applicable local, state, federal, international and industry-specific laws and regulations.
Prior to Dawson’s current role, she served as a systems project manager on the B-2 mission- planning program and systems engineer on the Space Based Infra-Red System program, providing technical direction to software developers across a variety of platforms. Dawson joined Hughes Aircraft Company in 1990 as a member of the technical staff, project manager, and as a liaison between corporate and business units to ensure a common interface.
She is an active board member of Girl Scouts Greater Los Angeles, AARP Executive Council, California State University Dominguez Hills Computer Science Advisory Board and The Inland Valley Newspaper Advisory Board. Other civic boards include Junior League (Riverside), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated (Orange County), The Links Incorporated (Claremont), and Top Ladies of Distinction Incorporated (Inglewood).
Her professional memberships include the IEEE Computer Society; American Medical Informatics Association; and the American Bar Association. In 2021, Dawson was selected as a recipient of a Distinguished Alumni Award from CGU.
Dawson holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Grambling State University, a master’s degree in information systems and technology from Claremont Graduate University, and an MBA in computer information systems from California State University Dominguez Hills. Currently Dawson is a doctoral candidate in CGU’s Center for Information Systems & Technology (CISAT) whose research focuses on privacy, cyber security, compliance, and interoperability of information systems.
Dawson’s connection to CGU happens to be a family affair. Her son Quincy earned his master’s in education in 2020, and her daughter Nicole graduated in 2021 with an MBA.
Dawson joined the Board of Trustees of Claremont Graduate University in 2022.
