Psychology Prof. Kathy Pezdek receives Outstanding Mentor award from Women in Cognitive Science
Claremont Graduate University Psychology Professor Kathy Pezdek has been named the winner of the Outstanding Mentor Award by Women in Cognitive Science.
The award recognizes an established scientist who has developed the research and publication skills of female graduate and undergraduate students in cognitive science. Recipients must demonstrate sustained, effective mentorship of female students.
The award will be presented to Pezdek in November at the 2015 meeting of the Psychonomic Society in Chicago.
Women in Cognitive Science was founded in 2001 to encourage young women to pursue cognitive psychology and science, and to provide professional development, support, and networking for women in the field.
Pezdek is a cognitive psychologist and expert in how eyewitness evidence is utilized by law enforcement and the courts. She frequently testifies as an expert witness on eyewitness identification and memory. Her research has focused on a range of topics, including face memory, suggestibility of memory, line-up techniques, and detecting deception.
She is a fellow of the American Psychological Society and has served as Editor of Applied Cognitive Psychology.
