Updated myCGU mobile app gives students more features at their fingertips

Claremont Graduate University has enhanced the myCGU mobile app, adding a range of new features to help students stay connected from wherever they are.

From their smart phones or tablets, students can now securely access financial aid information, class schedules, account statements, emergency contacts, and even a to-do list. They can conveniently pay their bills, view holds on records, access unofficial transcripts, enroll in or drop classes, and view grades.

Also included is an interactive map, which helps visitors navigate the campus and provides real-time directions.

The app is available for the iOS and Android platforms.

The myCGU app is the mobile extension of CGU’s myCampus portal. It was first launched two years ago, with features such as a CGU telephone directory, campus news feed, and event calendar.

The new features were added in response to feedback the Office of Information Technology received about students’ desire for a more robust mobile experience, said Michael Thomas, media technology coordinator.

“We want to give students what they need quickly and securely in just a few clicks,” Thomas said.

The Office of Information and Technology will continue to enhance the app. It is already working on new features, such as alerts about account status changes. Student feedback will continue to drive development, said Manoj Chitre, assistant vice president of technology services and information systems.

“As university life becomes more and more reliant on mobile technology, it is increasingly important to stay connected using these handheld devices,” Chitre said.
