Greetings From the Provost
Welcome to the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost of Claremont Graduate University. Our office provides academic and administrative leadership for all of CGU, including academic programs, faculty, curriculum, student achievement, sponsored programs, and research.
The academic mission of CGU is to create new knowledge and to prepare leaders who will go out into the world with the purpose and skills to make it a better place. We do this through the seven schools that form our academic organization in the fields of arts and humanities, economics, politics and public policy, education, botany, information science, management, religion, mathematics, psychology, and organizational behavior. We work in collaboration with our colleagues at the other Claremont Colleges—Pomona, Scripps, Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer, and Keck Graduate Institute—to provide the resources of a medium-sized university with the intimacy and support of a small institution. Our primary concern is always for the academic excellence of our students and our work.
We are reimagining the future of graduate education, starting with professional doctorates that provide a path to career growth for those interested in careers outside of academia or research. We are also creating innovative programs designed to transcend traditional boundaries, such as our MA in Transdisciplinary Analysis.
CGU has many superb resources and opportunities. As a result, our responsibility to our communities, both local and international, is great. We hope that you will join us in our exciting work and become part of our community of scholars.
