We are honored to welcome Roksana Pirouzmand as our next guest in the Visiting Artist Lecture Series. Born in 1990 in Yazd, Iran, Pirouzmand is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice encompasses sculpture, ceramics, installation, and performance art. After immigrating to the United States in 2012, she earned her BFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 2017 and an MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2022. Her work delves into the dynamic interplay between the human body and its environment, utilizing materials’ intrinsic qualities—such as texture, weight, and flexibility—to evoke sensory responses and foster a dialogue between artwork and audience. Pirouzmand’s art has been exhibited internationally, including at the Hammer Museum’s “Made in L.A. 2023: Acts of Living” exhibition, and venues such as Murmurs, Del Vaz Projects, and François Ghebaly in New York. Her recent solo exhibition, “a land to fall asleep,” showcased her exploration of faceless figures that evoke self-sufficiency and introspection. Join us as she shares insights into her creative process and the evolving narratives within her work.
