Associate Prof. Linda Perkins receives Claremont Colleges’ Diversity Mentor Award
Claremont Graduate University Associate Professor Linda Perkins has received the Claremont Colleges 2016 Diversity Mentor Award.
The award honors members of the Claremont Colleges community who have provided consistent and meaningful support and encouragement to students, staff, or colleagues from historically underrepresented populations.
Perkins, who directs CGU’s Applied Women’s Studies Program, researches the history of black students in elite institutions of higher education. She’s also examines talent identification programs and the history of African American women in higher education.
She was honored with the award during a ceremony on April 15 in Balch Auditorium on the Scripps College campus. Shahriar Shahriari, professor of mathematics at Pomona College, also received the award.
Roberta Espinoza, professor of sociology at Pitzer College, and Lenny M. Seligman, professor of biology and associate dean at Pomona College, each received the Claremont Colleges’ 2016 Diversity Teaching Award.
The Claremont Colleges Diversity and Inclusion Awards were organized by the Claremont 7Cs Diversity Working Group.
